Aquamist

Water Injection Systems, as used on Formula 1 cars in the 1980s, are now a very important addition to the latest breed of World Rally Cars. Following years of rigorous research ERL have developed 'Aquamist', a new generation of Intelligent Water Injection Systems. Now available outside the Works Rally Teams 'Aquamist' is an essential product for tuning Turbo charged Road and Rally cars.

As well as effectively cooling the inlet charge, water's main contribution is in-cylinder cooling. Once the peak combustion temperature is under control, the onset of detonation is minimised. The current method used to achive the same effect was by dumping fuel, but power is being lost as a result since the air/fuel ratio is altered beyond the ideal proportion of 14:7:1. More and more force-induced cars are now using water injection as the proper way of controlling detonation.
